Blank Assignment - Data Moshing

For this blank assignment, I decided to keep exploring video. It's a medium that I've been enjoying working with this semester, so I wanted to see how I could continue to push myself. My friend introduced me to an app called MoshUp, acting as an all-in-one filming and editing software that creates an effect known as "data moshing" In data moshing, the moving parts of a video are processed so that they appear to be glitching, resulting in a strange, surreal footage. I decided to let my intuition guide me as I created this video, pausing on sidewalks and in parks to capture moments that I found interesting. About halfway through the video I began incorporating videos that I had saved in my camera roll, including my partner juggling, my dog jumping, and our first in-class stop motion project. I'm happy with how this turned out, as the moshing effects are always interesting both visually and aurally, creating a unique, digital atmosphere.
